 The Wisdom
of God
Verses for the Day:
26 My son, give me
thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
Proverbs 23:26 (AMP):
26 My son, give me your
heart, and let your eyes observe and delight in my ways.

Thoughts for the Day:
This verse in Proverbs
is an invitation to come to the Lord and learn of His ways. When the Bible
speaks of the heart, it is referring to the "spirit man."  Man was created
by God in the image of God. Man is a
trichotomy made up of spirit, soul and body. God designed man as a functioning
unit, with his reborn spirit to be in charge of the soul (mind, will, and
emotions), and with the body in subjection to the soul and spirit. Man was
created in the image of God. Until we understand this, we cannot begin to
understand ourselves.
God is also a triune being. The Godhead is made up of
the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. We must have some
understanding of this mystery if we are to understand our own makeup.
In today's study, the Lord is asking us to give him our hearts. We can
see and know Him if we turn to Him with our whole heart. Jeremiah
24:7 says, "And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am
the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they
shall return unto me with their whole heart."
We all need a new life. We need to
be cleansed from sin and its penalty (which is death) and restored to
fellowship with God, who made us all. That is what Jesus Christ meant when He said we "must be born again" (John 3:7).
"...Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John
3:3). Without the experience of the "new birth," we have no hope of
enjoying the glories of heaven, nor escaping the terrors of hell.

The "new birth" is not a religion,
not living up to a creed, not a set of rituals, nor joining a church or
denomination. It is a transformation. Our old nature is changed and we
receive a new one. Old things pass away and all things become new in
Christ. We receive a new heart, new desires, new ideas, and a new
direction because of this new nature. A birth is the coming into being
of a new life which has the nature of its parents. When you were born
the first time, you were made a partaker of the nature of natural man.
When you are "born again," you become a partaker of the divine nature
(2 Peter 1:4). God can then become our heavenly Father.
The greatest attribute of God is
that He is a God of love. He loves you and me. He loves all sinners and
wants to save every one of us from hell and the terrible results of our
sin. His Word tells us, "But God commendeth His love toward us, in
that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). "For
He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be
made the righteousness of God in him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). God
hates sin because of what it produces-- war, sickness, poverty, etc.,
        but God loves the sinner.
God sent Jesus Christ, His only Son,
so that we might have new, everlasting life. The Bible tells us, "For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life"
(John 3:16). By His death and resurrection, Jesus paid for our
salvation. He broke the power of sin and death, making it possible for
us to have everlasting life. The life of God raised Jesus from the dead
and He was the first born Son into the kingdom of God.
Once we are "born again" then, we
must walk in the spirit to grow in Christ.  One of the best ways to
do this is to be careful about the things we look at.  We need to
keep the Word of God in front of our eyes and turn our eyes away from
evil things.  This is very important because we are influenced by
        the things we see.
        Psalm 101:2-4:
2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come
unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them
that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

Prayer for the Day:

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come in Jesus' name, thanking You for Your love toward us as mortals. Give us
a revelation of Your true nature and character, so that we might be able to trust
You and follow You at all costs. Let us take this revelation and share it with
those that do not know You as a loving God. Lord, let us never blame You for the
sin and evil in the world, but rather let us look to our own hearts and allow
You to cleanse us of those things that offend You. May we daily walk in more
knowledge of You and Your ways. You are the mighty God who desires to do good to
us. Lord, make me whole spirit, soul and body. In Your name, I pray, Amen.''
