  The Wisdom of God
Verses for the Day:

21 He that
followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.Proverbs 21:21 (AMP):
21 He who earnestly seeks
after and craves righteousness, mercy and loving-kindness will find life in
addition to righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God) and
honor.

This scripture in Proverbs
reveals to us that seeking after righteousness is the secret of an
honorable and overcoming life. It tells us that if anyone will seek
whole-heartedly after righteousness and mercy, they will not only find it, but
will obtain life and honor themselves.  We find this same principle in
Jesus' Sermon on the Mount in the New Testament. I do not think that I
can improve on His Words.

Matthew 5:1-7:
1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set,
his disciples came unto him:
2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they
shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Matthew
6:31-33:
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we
drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father
knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto you.

The definition of righteousness
according to the Bible, means to be in right standing with God.  If we are
in right standing with God, we will then be in right standing with men, as the
Lord will always lead us to do the right thing toward our brothers and sisters.
The Bible is very clear that we cannot love God, whom we have not seen, if we do
not love our brother, whom we have seen.

1 John 4:20
(AMP):
20 If anyone says, I love God, and hates (detests, abominates) his brother (in
Christ), he is a liar: for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen,
cannot love God, Whom he has not seen.
21 And this command (charge, order, injunction) we have from Him: that he who
loves God shall love his brother (believer) also.

Righteousness and
mercy are so important in God's economy, that when we seek His kingdom and
His righteousness first, it will bring us life, righteousness and honor. We can
also be assured that the Lord will take care of our needs, as that is His promise
to us.

Dear Father in
Heaven,  I am grateful for all of Your promises in the Bible.  Since
You are not a man that would lie, then I know I can confidently trust You to
keep Your Word.  Help me to obey Your Word, for in obeying it, I know that
I shall receive Your promises.  I do desire to be righteous and holy like
You.  I know that I cannot attain this without You, but with the Holy
Spirit I am able to do all things through Christ Jesus.  I am asking in
faith that You help me to follow You in everything so that I bring honor to You.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
