Verses for the Day:

Proverbs 20:24-25 (AMP):
24 Man's steps are ordered by the Lord. How then can a man understand his way?
25 It is a snare to a man to utter a vow (of consecration) rashly and (not until)
afterward inquire (whether he can fulfill it).

The wisdom in
today's verses tell us that to understand our way in this earth, we must know God,
and that we are also to be careful about making any promises to God that we do
not keep.

Verse 24
from Proverbs
brings up one of the oldest questions all men have about life and that question
is -- "Why was I born and what is my purpose in life?" Man was placed on the
earth by God and his "goings" are laid out by God.  Without God, man cannot
understand life, nor why he was born and where he is going. God loves
you and created you to know Him personally.

John 17:3: Now this is eternal life:
that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you
        have sent.
        God sent Jesus Christ,
His only Son, so that we might have new, everlasting life. The Bible
tells us, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have
everlasting life" (John 3:16). By His death, burial and
resurrection, Jesus paid for our salvation. He broke the power of sin
and death, making it possible for us to have everlasting life. The life
of God raised Jesus from the dead and He was the first born Son into the
        kingdom of God.
God created mankind so that they could
all become His sons and daughters and be like Him.  However, God
has given all men a free will, so we all have a choice to receive and
accept what Jesus did for us on the cross when He died to take away all
men's sins. Jesus is the Son of God and was an innocent man who was
crucified, died, and raised up by God on the third day and now lives
forevermore. All mankind is separated from God and each of us must
repent of our sins and ask Jesus to come into our hearts and change our
old sin nature.  When we do this by faith, we are then "born again"
into the family of God and we become His children.
He then reveals His life and plan to us.
He will then show each of us our part in the scheme of His world.
By reading the Bible, we receive revelation as to how He wants us to act
and what we are to do.  He will show us how we are to help others
know His love and goodness.  He will also give us understanding and
show us the steps we are to walk in daily.

Psalm
37:23-24:
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his
way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him
with his hand.

These scriptures
tell us that even when we make mistakes and fall down, He will help us to get up
and walk on with Him.

Proverbs 20:25
in today's study also warns us to be careful about telling God we will do
something and then not do it. The Lord wants us to be like Him and keep our
promises. So many people promise they will do something and then they do not do
it. This is bad enough when we do this with other men, but when we do this in
regard to holy things, it is a very serious matter before the Lord. He is very
merciful and forgiving when we fail, but we should not tempt God by making
promises to Him that we do not keep. We should give serious thought about
anything we tell God we will do.

Ecclesiastes: 4:4-6:
4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure
in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not
pay.
6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the
angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and
destroy the work of thine hands?

Dear Heavenly
Father, Thank You for saving my soul.  I am so glad that You are my Father
and I can come to You, no matter what kind of problem I have.  You are
always so kind and merciful to me when I fail and I do appreciate it.  Help
me, so that I will be able to walk in the straight and narrow way and not take
steps that are out of the way.  I want to please You and have my steps
ordered of You.  Show me what You would have me to do and then strengthen
me to do it. Also, help me to guard my mouth and not promise things to others
that I am not able to perform.  I ask this in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
