Winter 1998
We are called to PRAY for the world...
Thank you for your willingness to pray! The Lord has great
things in store for you. If you are serious about becoming an intercessor, we would like
to help you. Our desire is to equip the Body of Christ to do great things in His name! We
have felt for some time that God is calling us to link together and mobilize praying
people from all over the world. On a regular basis, we plan to highlight different
ministries, regions of the world, and global issues that need prayer.
This is a page that we plan to expand often. We will be adding
more topics in the future, so please check back with us regularly to receive new prayer
updates.

Issues of Internet Intercessors
Greetings!
If you read through this entire issue of Internet Intercessors (or at least read
the first several articles) you will no doubt notice that the nation of Sudan is one of
the main themes. This is no mere coincidence. Sudan desperately needs our prayers right
now, and we want to get the word out in every way possible.
In Sudan, the 1991 Criminal Act means conversion from Islam to Christianity can be
punishable by death. What State law does not take care of, the bloody civil war and
starvation does. Yet I believe that through this fire will emerge a church that will be
virtually unstoppable by the gates of Hell. Many Sudanese Christians have been beaten,
jailed, lost family members, and endured a hostile climate in the natural realm just to
survive. These men and women are willing to lay down their lives for the cause of Christ,
not only in physical death but in the daily death of their own desires. The fires of
persecution have only seasoned them with courage and endurance. I believe what the Lord is
unveiling in Sudan will bring great humiliation and defeat to the Devil. The schemes of
destruction that he has plotted against the Church will backfire against him and the
triumph of the Church in Sudan will be a mighty force on the Earth to be reckoned with!
God has a pattern of choosing the weak and foolish things of this world to shame the
wise. Surely through this nation, and through those who, in obscurity, are enduring great
persecution and hardship for the sake of the cross, the Name of Jesus will be lifted up in
all the earth. --
A
Teaching On Prayer
Ministering as Kings and Priests
By Monte Petersen
(Exodus 19:3-6 KJV) And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of
the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of
Israel; Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings,
and brought you unto myself. Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my
covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth
is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These
are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel."
This scripture records the first time in history that God Almighty spoke to a nation of
people. He declared to them His purpose for their creation--to bring them to Himself, that
they might be a "kingdom of priests." The heart cry of God is to have a holy,
separated, and unique people dedicated to the sacred work of worship and intercession. He
wants a "Royal Priesthood" indwelt and clothed with His very own presence! Since
He spoke this to Moses, God's purpose hasn't changed. The New Testament Apostles, Peter
and John both declared that believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are Kings and Priests unto
God.
(1 Peter 2:9 KJV) "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy
nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called
you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"
(Revelation 1:5-6 KJV) "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and
the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that
loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests
unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
It is my personal conviction that we must become faithful priests who absorb Christ's
love and nature before the Holy Spirit will empower us as "kings." God's love is
only found in His presence, by being united with Him. As priests of the Most High, we have
the awesome privilege and responsibility of coming away from all the business and
activities of life and drawing near to the One True Sovereign. As we repent of our sins
and confess them, we are cleansed in the precious blood of Jesus and we receive God's love
as He welcomes us in His embrace. As we express our love and gratitude, the Holy Spirit
lifts us "on eagle's wings."
Intercession as Priests
God's resurrection power strengthens us and confirms our faith in the integrity of
Scripture, the Word of God. He receives our worship and hears our heart cries for our
persecuted brothers and sisters, His own dear children. Through the spirit, we identify
with them, though they suffer far more than most of us. Christian believers have recently
been sold into slavery, raped and savagely killed--all for their faith in Jesus Christ.
Families have been broken up and separated. Millions of believers in "closed"
countries are threatened, harassed, and intimidated by faithless deluded men and the demon
spirits that influence them. At this moment, precious saints of whom the world is not
worthy, endure tremendous misery, lying on cold cement floors in isolated prisons, cold,
lonely, hungry, bruised and beaten. Many of them have been rejected by their own families
simply because they love the Messiah who bled and died for their sins on the cross of
Calvary. Others are literally prisoners in their own homes, controlled by their
unbelieving family members. Pray that their faith will not fail, that they will be
supernatural strengthened, comforted, and encouraged! We have Scriptural testimony that
God dispatches mighty angels to release His own from prison--in response to the prayers
of the church (Acts 12).
Spiritual Warfare as Priests
In the conquest of Canaan under Joshua, God's priests led the way into the Jordan River
bearing the Ark of the Covenant. This represents a team concept of ministry which bears
the presence of God into impossible situations. The mighty power of God stopped the
flooding Jordan River and Israel passed over on dry ground. Under the direction of the
"Captain of the Host" who can be none other than Jesus Christ (see Revelation
19:11-16) the priests of God led the way in the famous "Jericho march" which
resulted in an awesome victory over an evil fortress and an arrogant enemy entrenched in a
seemingly impregnable fortress! The presence of God, borne on the shoulders of a company
of priests was Israel's invincible weapon! King David recaptured this strategy during his
reign, and by using it, expanded Israel's borders to their widest dimensions.
As we bear God's mighty presence in unity, the Holy Spirit will anoint us as Kings. He
will release prophetic utterance from heaven and cause His Son to reign in all the earth.
In Psalm 110 which is a revelation of the priesthood of Jesus Christ, the Bible
says that the Holy Spirit will send the rod of His strength out of Zion, and Christ will
rule in the midst of His enemies. Zion represents the church in divine order (see Hebrews
12). The "rod" represents Gods manifested authority found in the name of
Jesus and the true prophetic utterance.
Kings on the Earth
As Kings in the earth, we can take up the mighty weapon of the name of Jesus and
command defeated demon powers to bow to the will of God and release the captives! Due to
the current renewal of the Holy Spirit, and world-wide concentration of prayer force
through the Internet and other media, the Church has the power and authority to shake the
idols and demon powers of every nation on earth, preparing the way for global harvest and
for the Son of God to have a glorious Bride! What God did in the book of Acts, He'll do
again. He is already doing many great things today. We should expect even greater things
to take place in the days ahead because God always saves the best wine until last.
Would you consider fasting and praying in unity with God's Royal Priesthood around the
world for our suffering, hurting brothers and sisters? The Persecuted Church needs us, and
we need them. You will be fulfilling your God-given purpose, and He promises rich rewards
to all who obey Him.
"But you shall be called the priests of the Lord; people will speak of you as
the ministers of our God. You shall eat the wealth of the nations, and the glory (once
that of your captors) shall be yours" (Isaiah 61:6, Amplified Bible).
God bless you!

Shekinah Ministries
Out Of Africa--Sudan
What are some of the greatest needs in Sudan right now? Depending on the person you
ask, you might get a different answer each time. Certainly an end to the terrible violence
of war, and an end to starvation would be among the top answers. Yet, although these
things are greatly needed, they are only temporary solutions to the real problems that
linger not only in Sudan, but in the whole world. There is much effort put into the
"band-aid" effect, but what about solving these problems right at their root?
What about empowering a generation of Sudanese with the knowledge of God's forgiveness and
the anointing to defeat the principalities in the heavenly realms? What about discipling
those who are called of God to establish His kingdom in Sudan?
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual
forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12).
"Shekinah" is a Hebrew word that represents the glory of the presence
of the Living God dwelling amongst His people. Shekinah Ministries was born out of a
passion in the heart of Michael Howard for this concept to become a reality not only in
his own life, but in those around him as well. Michael, (who was born and raised in
Zimbabwe), has the quality of faith to carry a vision from God from its conception to
completion, despite the land mines (both literal and spiritual) that lie scattered along
the way. Because of this quality, the Lord has placed him in some of the toughest ministry
fields in the world.
Shekinah Ministries is now based in Southern Sudan. Here, in this land of upheaval and
uncertainty sits a ministry with an unshakable confidence in the solid rock of Jesus
Christ. Among other things, Shekinah Ministries is working on the beginnings of a Bible
School which will train many Sudanese men and women for the work of the ministry. The
school property ( a former Agricultural Training School complete with dormitories and a
lake with year-round water) was given to Shekinah Ministries by the Commissioner of Yei
and the blessings of the Sudanese People's Liberation Army. Although the buildings
themselves are still in a state of semi-disrepair, the ministry has resolved to begin
classes on Feb. 1, 1999, even if they must sit on benches outside under the trees. Much
time has already been invested in clearing out the property of undergrowth and land mines.
The vision for the facilities themselves, will be a self-supporting system complete with a
garden and farm animals. In addition, Shekinah Ministries is praying for anointed helpers
and Bible teachers who will teach the pure Word of God to the students.
In Brother Micheal's own words: "There is nothing that we can teach them about
persecution and suffering but it is our honor to teach them about the love of our Lord
Jesus Christ...As we train up missionaries in New Sudan we know that they will take the
message of love, forgiveness and freedom no matter what the cost--and we do not doubt that
the cost will be high. But for everyone who lays down his life many more will spring up to
take the message of salvation to their brothers who are in bondage."
Please pray for Shekinah Ministries!
Pray that all who are in leadership with this ministry will clearly hear the
voice of the Lord and submit to His leading in all circumstances. Pray also for their
protection, strength, and joy in the Lord.
Pray that all the materials needed for the school will come in. If you would
like to help in this area, there are some specific things you can do. Please see below.
Pray for the students who will be attending the School, that their hearts will
be open to the Lord and that from amongst them, He will raise up a mighty spiritual army
with the character of Christ who will establish the kingdom of God in Sudan.
Pray for miracles, signs and wonders to confirm the power of the Name of Jesus
to the nation of Sudan.
You can help in tangible ways by either sending money to them, or contacting large
department stores such as Sam's Club or Walmart to see if they will donate any of the
needed items (such as toiletries, cleaning supplies, or teaching materials). If you would
seriously be interested in undertaking such a project, please contact Shekinah Ministries
at the address given below and they will send you brochures and information which you can
hand to the managers of these stores.

URGENT!
Prayer needed for persecuted
Christians
"Millions of American Christians pray in their churches
every week, oblivious to the fact that Christians in many parts of the world suffer brutal
torture, arrest, imprisonment, and even death--their home and communities laid waste--for
no other reason than they are Christians. The
shocking untold story of our time is that more Christians have died in this century simply
for being Christians, than in the previous 19 centuries combined. They have been persecuted before and martyred before an unknowing,
indifferent world and a largely silent Christian community." Nina Shea, Freedom
House
"There should be no division in the body, but the parts
should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with
it" (1 Corinthians 12:25-26).
This prayer focus spotlight will be continually dedicated to the
two hundred million Christians in over 60 countries worldwide who live in daily fear of
secret police, vigilantes, or state repression and discrimination. Please keep the
persecuted church in your prayers on a daily basis. As the Body of Christ, we are called
to pray for and uphold each other, regardless of denominational, doctrinal, or national
differences.
Prayer Focus this month: SUDAN, Part 2
In the last edition of Internet Intercessors, we shared some of the
atrocities of war that are being committed in Sudan. We felt led to continue the focus on
Sudan this month, as now starvation has become an issue for many Sudanese people as well.
The current famine which threatens 1.2 million people in Southern Sudan is the result
of the domino effect of war, politics, drought and crop loss. Daily bombings can cut off
precious food supply, and lack of rain has suppressed normal crop growth. Many already
malnourished refugees from war-torn areas have walked for days through barren land living
only on what few leaves and grass they can find, as well as items like boiled goatskin.
Most arrive at their destination severely malnourished and close to death. Others die
along the way. And many of these are only children.
Most of us cannot even imagine the horror of a young mother watching her children
slowly wasting away. Most of us have so many resources at hand that we sometimes find it
difficult to imagine being completely helpless to do anything except pray and maybe brave
the trek across the desert without food or water to the nearest food distribution center.
Perhaps we have grown desensitized to starvation, especially in Africa where it seems to
be happening all the time. Though the world may now be full of pictures of starving
children, I pray that we, who bear the name of Christ, will never become so used to the
idea of starvation, that we are not moved with compassion to share out of our true
abundance.
We may think that we have just a little--but remember, that is only relative to the
society in which we live. The average plumber in the United States lives better today than
the average king did in the middle ages. Our standard of living is so high that the idea
of mere survival is a blurred concept. Yet, no matter who you are, there is something
that you gave give to your Sudanese brothers and sister. Of course, we can pray (and
should do so as often as we remember Sudan). But in addition to prayer, we can--and
should--give sacrificially of our finances.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Lord admonishes His people to care for the poor and the
helpless. Jesus identified Himself with the poor to such an extent that He went as far as
to say "Whatever you have not done unto the least of these my brethren, you've not
done it unto me!"
Today there are many popular teachings on "investing" your money into various
ministries to reap part of their reward (prophet's reward) and/or a hundredfold return
etc. While this is all very true and a basic biblical principal, I believe that the Lord
also wants us to give where we will not reap an immediate reward or gratification (except
for the peace and satisfaction that one receives from choosing to make the godly decision
of "bearing one another's burdens"). Jesus said in Luke 14:12-14, "When
you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives,
or your rich neighbors; if you do they may invite you back and so you will be repaid.
But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind and
you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the
resurrection of the righteous."
Let us send our very best to our Sudanese brothers and sisters! Let us show our love
for the Lord by sharing the love that He has shed abroad in our hearts with those who are
starving, physically and spiritually.
If you are a youth leader or involved in a youth group, you may want to consider taking
part in the "30 Hour Famine" sponsored by World Vision. This
"famine" raises money for starving people as well as promotes awareness and
compassion in those who have never experienced real hunger.
Please Pray:
Pray for all organizations and ministries who are combatting hunger in
Sudan.
Pray especially for those who are in desperate need of food--that they
will be supernaturally sustained until help arrives.
Continue to pray that a peace agreement will be made in Sudan. An end to
the civil war will bring about a great relief for this country.
Pray that all Sudanese Christians will be strengthened in the Lord and
will live in a special grace despite these horrendous persecutions. Pray that they will
not become bitter, vengeful or lose their faith in God.
Pray that those who align themselves with Sudanese Christians will not be
motivated out of hatred for the Muslims, but rather love for God.
Pray for the release and protection of all who are serving as slaves, or
forced to live in re-education camps. Pray that they will be a witness of Christ's love to
their captors and pray faithfully for them.
Pray for a mighty revival to take place in Sudan. Pray that the devil's
plans for destruction backfire in his own face, as a tremendous harvest is reaped from the
nation of Sudan, and many Muslims come to the saving knowledge of God's forgiveness.
Bind up the works of the evil principalities over Sudan, and pray that
the veil is ripped from the eyes of the deceived.

For more information about the persecuted church, we recommend
"Their Blood Cries Out" by Dr. Paul Marshall, one of the world's leading
authorities on religious persecution. Published in 1997, this book is full of up-to-date
information and many personal testimonies of those who live in areas of persecution all
over the world. The author not only reports what the media has not reported, but he also
looks deeper into the issues of persecution of Christians in general. He offers answers as
to why it is being ignored by the media and academia, as well as much of the Western
church. This book is a great tool; not only for intercessors, but also for those who are
interested in cross-cultural ministry and evangelism. Perhaps one of the greatest triumphs
of this book is that it effectively destroys the popular myth that most Christians are
"Western, white and male." Smashing stereotypes and misconceptions right and
left, this book is extremely well-written and broad in its scope. Dr. Marshall writes with
skill and balance between fact and emotion.
If you would like to order "Their Blood Cries Out," it
is available in our Chapel Bookstore.
If you would like more involvement in helping the persecuted
church at large, please contact OPEN DOORS. It is a large international, evangelical
organization formed to help suffering Christians throughout the world. They distribute
free Bibles and Christian literature in restricted countries, and publish a monthly
newsletter and prayer calendar for the persecuted church. We highly recommend this
ministry.

The Church Worldwide
A prayer for unity
"I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that
all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be
in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory
that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be
brought to complete unity to let the world know that you have sent me and have
loved them even as you have loved me" (John 17: 20-23).
My prayer for the worldwide church falls along the lines of Jesus' last prayer for the
church, which is recorded in full in John 17. This prayer which Jesus prayed right
before He went to the cross, is certainly His deepest heart cry for His people. As well,
it is the heart cry of every true believer.
Working on the Internet over the past two years has immensely broadened my vision of
the church overall. We have multitudes of visitors from every conceivable denomination and
belief system within the Church, as well as many others from outside Christianity. We have
had letters from people telling us we don't have enough emphasis on baptism, to those who
say we are emphasizing it too much, to those who say our methods of explaining baptism are
wrong--it must be done in only one certain way, etc. And that is just one topic!
Certainly, all of these diverse and conflicting views cannot all be right! Yet much
of the Church is hung up in what I consider to be side eddies in the River of the Spirit.
They are moving in busy little circles, using a lot of energy, but not getting very far in
the overall scheme of things. At best, hammering one small doctrinal point till one is
blue in the face hinders growth in one's personal life. At worst, it creates stumbling
blocks in the lives of other Christians.
We must remember that none of us are able to see the complete "big picture"
from our small vantage point. Paul said that we now "see in part and prophesy in
part." God has divinely set the church in such an order that we are completely
interdependent on one another (whether we realize this or not). Just as our own human
bodies need every part to function properly, so we as the church need each other. One of
the greatest hindrances to properly functioning in the Body is the prideful position that
our particular group has the best or fullest representation of Christ and that the
knowledge we possess is beyond most other groups of Christians. In some cases, this may
even be true (to some extent). But if that were indeed true, humility before the Lord and
His Body would be the proof of it. We can talk all we want about the great spiritual
heights we've attained, or how deceived everyone else is. But if we are not marked by love
and humility, our revelation is worthless, and we have failed at being a true Christian!
Though we will probably never see exactly eye to eye on subtle differences in
interpreting the Bible, we are obligated to honor each other despite our differences, and
to give each other the grace and freedom to be taught by the Holy Spirit. This is not to
negate the ministries of the pastors, prophets, teachers, evangelists, and apostles, nor
the God-given responsibility they have to teach, correct and exhort those the Lord has
given to them. Indeed, if the body of Christ gave more respect to those who are in these
positions, much of the disunity in the church would be done away with all at once.
Going on to maturity
I believe that God is doing a stretching work in His people at this time. If you are
involved at all with other Christians, you've probably noticed that you don't agree about
everything, even in your own church! Listen to what the Lord is saying! He is testing us
to see how far we are willing to be stretched. Through this process He is working
patience, humility, tolerance, gentleness, and a host of other spiritual fruit in our
lives. He is destroying the cozy doctrinal towers that we are so prone to construct. Why?
For one reason He doesn't want us isolated from each other. He wants to set us free from
all beliefs that do not truly represent Him--and often the only way He can reach us is
through other people. He knows that we need each other's wisdom and giftings, even if they
don't always make sense to us. The true wisdom of the Lord is often foolishness to
us--foolish in its simplicity, foolish in its severity, foolish in its freedom. Our own
wisdom works against the ways of the Lord, and the more we try to box Him in, the more we
rob from ourselves and others--and hinder the true work of the gospel.
God is stretching us, because He wants us to be so much bigger on the inside than we
are right now. We funnel truth through narrow channels of pre-set doctrines--and He wants
to blow them wide open and send a flood of His spirit that will permeate every area of our
life. Our narrow channels cannot yet contain the fullness of what He wants to give us. Our
response to the stretching God is doing in us right now, will determine how much of Him we
will be able to hold in the coming revival.
Jesus said in Matthew 9: 17 "Neither do men pour new wine into old
wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, and the wine will run out and the wineskins
will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins and both are preserved." New
wine, in its broadest sense can represent anything of the Spirit that is new to
us--whether it be a teaching, experience, revelation, interpretation of scripture, or
aspect of God's character. Obviously, "new wine" that is from God does not
include false doctrine. Many suspect anything new or different to be from Satan. However,
Jesus gave this admonition to the church, saying that God Himself has new
things to give us that we must make room for. To receive them, however, we must be willing
to give up the familiarity and comfort of our old wineskin.
The Whole Truth
Am I advocating that we abandon our moral and doctrinal convictions just because
someone else disagrees with us? Not at all! What I am saying is that we need to humbly
acknowledge that neither we nor our movement alone have all the answers. We need to be
able to see Christ in each other and to learn from each other's wisdom. As Cindy Jacobs
often says, it took all twelve tribes of Israel to win the promised land. As
"spiritual Israel," no individual movement within Christianity has the ability
to do it all alone either. Only as we unite in purpose and put aside our differences, can
we can be a part of the coming revival on the earth.
Jesus' last recorded prayer for us was that we would be one, dwelling in Him, as He
dwelled in the Father. If we live in Jesus the way He lived in the Father there won't be
room for anything but the Holy Spirit. We will be a perfect picture of Jesus to the world,
just as He was a perfect picture of the Father. Is this only a far-fetched dream? No! The
Lord has made it clear that He is coming back for a Bride without spot or wrinkle, and far
be it from God to lie. He will perfect us because He is perfection itself. How He will do
it, I do not know--but what is impossible with man is possible with God. Somehow He will
take all these scattered, jagged edges of doctrine that war with each other and bring
forth from them a holy Bride that is meek and yet powerful like Himself.
When we stop biting and devouring each other; when all the dust settles and the real
truth is told, God will recognize us only by the character of His Son that is displayed in
our lives. Doctrinal correctness will mean little in that day. Mighty miracles that we
performed will have already reaped their reward on the earth. Anything done out of pride
or selfish ambition will be ashes blown away by the merest movement of the Holy One. When
the books are opened, only the things that were deposited into the accounts of
"Love" and "Obedience" will remain. On that day we may be surprised to
discover that some of the very least in the kingdom of God will receive an inheritance
that far surpasses our own.
At the Lord's table there is room for all to inherit the greatest rewards. We are given
the choice every day to yield to the gentle tugging of the Holy Spirit or to harden our
heart to His voice, and so narrow the channel inside us through which His Spirit may flow.
We can have as much or as little of Him as we desire.
More of God
Do you want more of God? Has it been difficult for you to receive from Him? Perhaps the
missing element that you are looking for is sitting across the dinner table from you.
Perhaps it is in that (as we derogatorily refer to each other) "frozen
chosen" or the "name it and claim it" church down the street
that you have despised in your heart. We must be careful that in our zeal for truth, we do
not despise the Lord Himself. God, in His wisdom, has ordained that the key factor in
our ability to receive Him lies how we receive each other.
"As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the
calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one
another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of
peace. There is one body and one spirit--just as you were called to one hope when you were
called--one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and
through all and in all" (Ephesians 4:1-3).
"Father, I lift up your church to you. My prayer is for all who read and visit
our webpage--and even beyond them, out into all of those who are called by your Name.
Father, I pray that we will love you first in every area of our lives. Please open our
eyes to areas where we have shut you out, so we can repent and be cleansed. Forgive us for
our denominational pride and arrogance. Forgive us for making our pet doctrines and
personal strengths the standards by which we judge each other with. Forgive us for being
harsh in our judgements of each other. Help us to love each other with the same mercy that
you have given to us. Help us to bear with each other and give us humble spirits that can
see You in each other and learn from each other. Father, we pray that the prayer of Jesus
in John 17 will be fulfilled in us individually and corporately.
We submit ourselves to you and ask for your guidance, discernment, and correction in
our lives. Thank You for hearing our prayer and bringing it to pass not by might nor by
power but by the Spirit of the Lord of Hosts! Amen."

National Prayer Summit and Nation-Wide Fast--USA
December 27, 1998 through February 5, 1999
Fasting and prayer crusades, and
national assemblies for repentance are becoming more and more common these days. Currently
God is emphasizing these important truths and weapons of spiritual warfare to His people.
Many are realizing that prayer is no longer an option. Five minutes here and there will
not do the job it takes to survive in today's world; nor to bring about the kind of
revival that this nation--and the world--needs so desperately.
Many feel that God is about to judge our land. In fact many of His judgements are
already in motion, if we only had the eyes to recognize His Hand upon many of the recent
events that have taken place. What will the future hold for us? The answer to that
question depends upon how the people of God respond to Him right now. We don't have
time to wait for a "later date" to get our house in order--to spend more time in
prayer--to uproot the worldliness that has choked out our spiritual fervor--and to
rekindle the fires of a pure love and devotion to the One who gave His life for us. Our
response to God today will affect our future tomorrow. Is our vision for the future
compelling enough for us to plant seeds of prayer and repentance, so that tomorrow we may
reap a harvest of life?
Revival shall come. We can mark it down, for the Lord has promised to pour out
His Spirit on all flesh in the last days. Revival shall come, but the question is, will we
be a part of laying the foundation for it or will we sit idly by while others do the hard
work? Today the Lord is sending out invitations, inviting us to partake with Him in a holy
and privileged work. His voice rings out into the churches and highways calling His people
to take His yoke of prayer upon them. What shall your response be? Shall we use the same
old excuses from Bible times? "Lord, I just got married! Can't I join you
later?" "Lord, let me take care of my business. I promise to come just as soon
as I get all this other stuff taken care of!" Our excuses may be true and valid to
our way of thinking, but little do we realize that by ignoring the invitation of the Lord,
we are only robbing ourselves of the greatest joy that will ever be given to man.
The lesson of Esau in Genesis 25:29-34 still holds true for us today. A nutshell
version of the story is this: One day, Esau came to his home, famished after hunting. He
had been working hard, and faithfully doing his job. However, he was so hungry that he
traded his birthright as the older son to his younger brother Jacob--just for a bowl of
stew and some bread! Esau's birthright was the summation of his family inheritance, yet it
is recorded that he "despised" it. He was willing to trade his entire future for
something as fleeting as temporarily filling his belly.
Today in the Body of Christ, there are many who might consider themselves "older
brothers," some of which may be like Esau. Maybe they have been Christians for a long
time, and perhaps even in the ministry. Maybe they feel that their inheritance is secure,
but many of them have never really seen the value of it at all. The "Esaus" of
this generation are trading their future inheritance for temporary profit, pleasure and
success. Yes, their bellies are full, but that is the extent of their reward.
How can we keep ourselves from becoming an Esau?
The Lord is calling us to see with eyes fixed on the eternal. The more we fix our
heart on the heavenly realms, the less prone we are to be snared by the fleeting treasures
of this age. This heavenly vision is one that cannot be forced or "drummed
up," but is given freely to all who turn from their idolatry and choose to love the
Lord their God with all that is within them. Please notice that this is a choice that
must be decided individually. No one can choose for you. Yet, when we choose to obey
Him, God supplies all the rest that we need.
If you are an Esau (as we all have been from time to time), it is not too late to
repent. You have much to invest into the kingdom and the Lord is waiting for you with open
arms. "For this is the day of repentance and forgiveness," says the Lord
God.
I praise God for men such as Bill Bright and Ray Bringham who have faithfully sounded
the trumpet for prayer and repentance for many years. They, and others like them have
"cleared a highway in the wilderness" and brought national attention to these
biblical truths. Now, the rest is up to us. Will we join them in this mighty work? Make
your decision today!
National Prayer Summit 1999
will be held in Washington D.C. on February 3rd, 4th, and 5th. If you are anywhere near
the D.C. area, you may want to consider joining the over 2000 leaders from churches and
government who will be present to publicly repent for the sins of this nation and ask God
to heal our land. This meeting will be headed by Dr. Bill Bright, founder of Campus
Crusade for Christ; Lloyd Ogilvie, Chaplain of the U.S. Senate, and Ray Bringham,
President and founder of Prayer Summit. Intercessors! If
D.C. is far away for you, you can still be a vital part of this ministry by participating
in the 40 days of fasting, prayer and repentance (from December 27, 1998-Feb 5, 1999)
that will precede the National Summit in Washington D.C. |
PLEASE NOTE: Registration is important for both
events! For information on how to register and the logistics for attending the

Christ Unlimited's Prayer Requests
Updated 01/1/99
We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for praying for us. We plan to
update this list as we have need. We would also like to share with you several praise
reports that have taken place since we last updated this site.
As we look back on the past year, we can see some major areas where the Lord has really
blessed us. Financially, we are so much better off now than we were this time last year.
We praise God for His provision. Through 1998 we gained much more momentum, open doors,
and God-ordained relationships with others in the Body of Christ. We continue to hold fast
to His promises to us, and thank Him for His faithfulness in bringing them to pass.
So many of you have joined with us as partners. Thank you! We apologize that we haven't
been able to keep in touch as often we'd like, and we appreciate those of you who have
prayed for us even when you didn't hear much from us! We hope that in the coming year we
will be able to update this page more frequently, as well as correspond with you more as
well.
The needs of CHRIST UNLIMITED at this time are:
PRAY that God will give us wisdom in developing this website.
We have desired to upgrade our site for quite some time now, and finally we actually have
some plans in the making! We would appreciate
hearing from you the points about our website that you like, as well as areas that
you think could be improved. Please pray that the technicians and all involved in this
project will come up with a website that glorifies God and serves our visitors well.
We need to hire more office help. Please PRAY that the Lord
will send us the right people to labor with us in this field.
PRAY also for our strength and health as we go into the new
season. Our workload continues to increase, and we are finding it difficult to keep up
with everything.
Continue to PRAY for a major financial breakthrough for our
ministry. We have a great deal of literature that still needs to be converted and
formatted for use on the website. We want to offer all of this literature free but it
takes an enormous amount of time to do this and we are already stretched in what we are
currently doing. Please pray that we will have the finances needed to hire a part-time
computer technician and Secretary/Bookeeper . Our desire is to develop this site faster
and more efficiently, as well as continue to improve its overall quality. Other financial
needs we have include:
-consistent monthly support for running this ministry,
-finances to print our literature into Spanish (much of it has already been
translated),
-construction of a small chapel on our property,
-finances for our literature distribution ministry.
We continue to receive 5-10 requests for free literature every day. This all adds up
quickly. In addition to Bibles, we also send free books from our Bible Study, the
Overcoming Life Series, to prisons and ministries all over the world. Please pray that we
will have the finances to meet all these needs.
Most importantly, please PRAY that we will have the wisdom to run this website in the
way the Lord wants us to. He has entrusted it to us and we feel very strongly that we have
a high level of accountability with it. We want it to glorify the Lord in all ways. Pray
that our ears will be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Thank you for your prayers! May God richly bless you!
