The Wisdom
of God
Verses for the Day:
Proverbs 24:23 (KJV): 23 These things
also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment. Proverbs 24:23 (AMP):
23
These also are sayings of the wise. To discriminate and be partial, having
respect of persons in judging, is not good.
Thoughts for the Day:
This verse in Proverbs
is addressed to the wise, who are told not to discriminate, nor show partiality
when sitting in a position of judgment. Any person who is a judge, is required
in the Bible to make a fair judgment. In order to make a fair judgment about
anything, there first must be laws that are laid out that are considered the
standard about a situation. The standard for Christians are the laws and
commandments that are proclaimed by God and Jesus in the Bible. These laws and
rules are given so that order may be preserved in the earth. The rules and laws
in the Bible were given so that men could live blessed and peaceable lives.
God also outlined
the penalties for breaking the various laws. The ultimate penalty for all
sinners is that they will go to hell. However, the good news is that Jesus, the
son of God, came to the earth and died on a cross to save all men from their
sins. He took the penalty for the sins of all men by His death on the cross and
since He was a man who knew no sin, He was the perfect sacrifice. He died, and
was buried, and was raised from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of
God. Now those who come to Him, by faith, can receive forgiveness and pardon for
their sins when they repent, and they are no longer doomed to go to hell. The
Bible also says that God, the ultimate judge, is not a respecter of persons, as
what He will do for one, He will also do for another.
All who come to God through Jesus will be saved, no matter what sin or crime they
have committed.
Acts 10:34-36:
34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no
respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is
accepted with him.
36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus
Christ: (he is Lord of all.)
Romans 5:8-11:
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath
through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his
Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by
whom we have now received the atonement.
Since God is our
judge, and He is impartial, we should also imitate Him when we are in any
position to judge another. We must judge righteously, and the only way to do
that is to make judgments based on the Word of God. The standard is the
Word of God and therefore, when people do not line up with His Word, then their
actions are judged on that basis, not on the basis of their race, age, sex,
social status, nor their position. The Bible says that God always will
judge fairly, so we can trust His Word on any matter.
Genesis 18:25b:
Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
Many of the laws
on the books in the United States have their source based directly on the Bible.
Most of them can be found in the Old Testament book
of Deuteronomy.Our civil lawswere
established to keep order in our society, and because our founding fathers were
Christians, they created a structure that was based on moral laws taken from the Bible. Many of these down through the years have now been altered or abandoned to our
detriment as a nation. In fact, scripture says we would live in such a day.
Daniel 7:25: "And he
shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of
the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into
his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time."
Our present-day judicial system has now drifted away
from its original intent of protecting the innocent and unjustly accused, while
convicting the wicked so they will not harm others.
Today, it is being exploited by many lawyers, as well as people who want to
use the legal system for personal gain beyond what would be a fair settlement. They
are seeking outlandish judgments, that in the end all the people will pay for.
Through unfair settlements in these kinds of suits, the lawyers are the ones most
rewarded. Protection of the innocent, in many cases, has been overruled while
criminals are not justly dealt with. Quick punishment for the guilty has been
abandoned, as court appeals and delays stretch into costly and lengthy trials that last
for years at the public's expense. We need to return to Biblical principles and once again
shape our laws accordingly, if we desire to see justice in our land.
2 Samuel
23:3: "The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over
men must be just, ruling in the fear of God."
Prayer for the Day:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I am eternally grateful that You have forgiven me of my sins and that You paid
the price for them on the cross. Lord, I now want to serve You faithfully every
day. I am also thankful that You are a righteous judge and I can always
commit my case to You, and You will treat me fairly in everything. Since You are
no respecter of persons, You will do this for all who look to You. Lord, I
pray that as a nation, we will be given righteous judges so that all people will
receive justice in the courts of our land. I ask this in the name of the Lord,
Jesus Christ. Amen.
