The Wisdom of God
Verses for the Day:
Proverbs 3:25-26(KJV): "Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither
of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken."
Thoughts for the Day:
Many times in the Bible we are told not to be
fearful. God knew we would be living in a world that would have many fearful things
happening in it; yet, He made provision so that we need not fear. God promises His
children that He will watch over us and care for us. He has even given His angels
charge to keep us from harm.
Psalm 91:11-12: "For he shall
give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in
their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone."
Before the second coming of the Lord the wicked are going to be removed
through the judgments that will come upon the earth. These judgments come in the form of
plagues, storms, earthquakes, and other kinds of destruction. Since we are living in that
day, we are charged in these scriptures not to be fearful, but to have faith that our God
will keep us and our families safe. We can be protected from these things if we stay
close to the Lord under the shadow of His wings.
Psalm 91:1-3: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the
most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome
pestilence."
Our confidence must not rest in the things of this world, but we must be
confident in the fact that our Heavenly Father will watch over us and keep us from
falling. That is what is meant in Proverbs 3:26 when it speaks of
keeping our "foot" from being taken. Without God watching over uswe
are apt to fall into the devil's traps. Satan has many tricks and schemes to turn us
aside and cause us to fall away from God. However, if we pray and read our Bibles
and stay close to the Lord he will not be able to "trip us up."
Prayer for the Day:
Dear Lord, I come to you in the name of Jesus.
You know that at times I do experience fear. I am so glad I can come to you
and when I pray, You remove that fear and give me the faith and confidence that I need to
trust You. Help me to trust You more. Thank you that Your angels are watching
over me and my loved ones. I am sure when I get to heaven I will be amazed at the
many things that You protected me from in this life. Lord, have mercy on the lost and give
them opportunity to come to You and be spared from the awful judgments in this world. Use
me to share Your love with those around me that do not know You. Thank you, Lord, for the
opportunities to witness to the lost. Give me the right words to speak to them and prepare
their hearts to receive them. Amen.
