The Wisdom of God
Verses for the Day:
Proverbs 3:19-20(KJV): "The LORD by wisdom hath founded the
earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. 20 By his knowledge the depths
are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew."
Thoughts for the Day:
The Lord God in heaven used His wisdom to create the
entire earth and all the solar systems. Men throughout the ages have desired to know
their origin and the origin of the earth. This scripture states plainly that it was
God who founded it and it was God who created man. If men simply believed the Bible
they would not have to waste time, energy and money to try and discover the origin of the
earth, as well as their own origin. The first chapter of Genesis states
that He did it and exactly how He did it.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
-------- Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of
them.
When we read the entire first chapter, we stand amazed at the wisdom of
God in the creation. Everything was done in the right order. First God created
light, then the cycle of day and night. Then He made the firmament, and divided the waters
and gathered them together and commanded dry land to appear. After that he put the
vegetation in the earth. Vegetation must have light to grow so God did that first,
an act of wisdom. After the vegetation, came the creation of the animal kingdom
which needed the vegetation upon which to feed. God created man lastly, to rule over all
that He had previously created.
In creating the sun and the moon and all the planets, God set them all in
their orbits so that they would not collide with one another. They rotate in their
orbits with exact precision and astronomers can tell you their precise alignments at any
given time. God's wisdom always has an order to it. In our personal lives we should pray
for wisdom, so that we might know the proper order and plan for accomplishing His purposes
in our lives. We may feel we have heard the Lord tell us to do something; however, before
we attempt it, we should ask for His wisdom or plan to accomplish it. The Lord is
certainly calling men and women to serve Him at this hour, but we must have His plan, as
well as His call.
God's pattern is to call us "to be" before He calls us "to do." So
many "babes" in Christ are eager to zealously go forth in a full-time ministry
to save the world, yet they are not prepared for this task. Romans 10:2
says, "For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according
to knowledge." We must have the knowledge of God's Word, which takes some
preparation time, before we can go forth as an effective tool of the Lord. The real
ministry flows from what Christ is doing "in us," not from what we are trying
"to do" for Christ. It is always a greater service that we render through our
"being" than through our "doing." It is a greater honor to be called
to "be" something than to "do" something. Faith and preparation should
precede "works." A true ministry will be an overflow of our fellowship and
relationship with Jesus Christ. It will just spill over on to others.
Prayer for the Day:
Dearest Father, I am grateful that you are a God
of order and of wisdom. Show me Your order in my every day affairs. I need my life
and my ways ordered of You. Lord, I live in a time where there is so much busyness
and hurry-hurry, let me not get caught up in the rush of our society. Slow me down,
and show me my priorities. Let me do the things that are important to You. Let
me not leave the important things of prayer and the study of Your Word undone. Forgive me
when I neglect these things, because I have run out of time and strength that was given to
less important things. I know if I put the things of God first, then I will have time for
all the really important things in my life. Help me work on "being" like You,
instead of just busy "doing" things for you. I do ask this in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
