  The Wisdom of God

Verses for the Day:

Proverbs 15:10-12(KJV):
10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.
11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?
12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

Proverbs 15:10-12(Amp):
10 There is severe discipline for him who forsakes God's way, and he who hates reproof will die (physically, morally and spiritually).
11 Sheol (the place of the dead) and Abaddon (the abyss, the final place of the accuser Satan) both are before the Lord; how much more then the hearts of the children of men?
12 A scorner has no love for one who rebukes him, neither will he go to the wise (for counsel).

Thoughts for the Day:

These verses in Proverbs speak of correction and reproof that keep a man on the right path. We are warned that scorners who refuse to be corrected will face destruction and hell. We all know that a child requires correction to mature and learn the things in life that will help him grow properly. Our heavenly Father teaches us in the same way so that we can avoid the things that would destroy us. Verse 10 tells us that those who are scorners and rebels will not appreciate correction. This scripture also tells us that those who hate reproof will die. Notice that the death spoken of here can be physical, moral and spiritual.  All who are without Christ in their lives, are spiritually dead, though they do not know it.

Ephesians 2:1-8:
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins:
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

It is only through Christ and His guidance and correction that we can safely journey in this life. Fools despise correction and their pride keeps them from coming to the wise for guidance (verse 12).  They are led by their own lusts and desires and if they do not repent and turn to Jesus, they will eventually end up in hell. The Lord does not desire that any should perish; however, because He gave each man the gift of free will, we are left with the decision to choose whom we shall serve -- God or Satan.  The Lord knows that hell awaits all who are sinners, and that is why He gave us the task of sharing the gospel with those around us, so they will have the opportunity to accept Christ as their savior, and escape death and hell (verse 11).

2 Peter 3:9: "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. "

Let us who know the Lord welcome His correction so that we do not get in trouble by opening the door (through our rebellion or sin) for Satan to attack us. Let us also pray for, and witness to the lost so that they might be saved and escape the torment of hell.

Prayer for the Day:

Father God, Thank You that You are a good Father to me.  Deliver me of any rebellion that would cause me to ignore Your leading in my life. Strengthen and help me, so that I will always be an obedient child. I do appreciate Your patience toward me. Give me patience with those around me who do not know You. Let me share the gospel in love with each of them. Thank You, for delivering me from hell.  I am grateful for the promise of Your presence with me in this life and the promise of heaven to come. Lord, watch over all of Your children and keep us from evil.   I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
