The Wisdom of God
Verses for the Day:
Proverbs 15:5(KJV):
"A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is
prudent."
Proverbs 15:5(Amp):
"A fool despises his father's instruction and correction, but he who regards reproof
acquires prudence."
Thoughts for the Day:
Many verses in Proverbs
are wise instructions given to a son to keep him from straying from the right
path. This verse says that the son who listens to his father by obeying
his instructions and yielding to his reproof, will be a wise and prudent son. However, the son who despises
his father's instructions and correction is a fool. This is not only true in the
natural relationship of a father and a son, but it is also true in the relationship with
our heavenly Father. We are blessed and wise when we remain as a teachable child, who
obeys his father and yields to his correction. If we want to enter into the kingdom of
God, we must enter with a child-like heart of trusting our Father. This does not
mean we are to be "childish," but rather "child-like."
Luke 18:16-17:
16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and
forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child
shall in no wise enter therein.
One of the hardest lessons for many Christians to learn, is
the lesson of being submissive to the will of God at all times. When we rebel at our
Father's leading, we will find ourselves suffering the penalty for disobedience. The Lord
never wants us to be hurt or suffer at the hand of the devil. However, if we do not obey
the Word of God we can find ourselves reaping what we have sown by our own sin. The Bible
has a lot to say about how obedience brings blessings, while disobedience will lead to
one's destruction.
Isaiah 1:18-20:
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the
LORD hath spoken it.
These verses tell us of the cleansing and forgiveness that is availablewhen we come to Christ and yield to Him. Our sins which stained
us as red blood (scarlet), will be forgiven. When we become a
new creature in Christ, we are then made as white
as snow. There are many people suffering under
a load of guilt brought on by their sins. This is unnecessary, because the Bible says when
we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all of
our unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9-10: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned,
we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."
Jesus is our example when it come to obeying the Father. He never
did anything except what His Father told Him. His aim was to please His Father at all
times. In fact, Jesus was obedient unto the death, as He yielded to death on the
cross so that we might be saved. The sacrifice of one perfectly obedient Son made
it possible for God to save many sons who were disobedient.
John 8:27-32:
27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know
that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak
these things.
29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always
those things that please him.
30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then
are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Obedience is the evidence that we are true disciples of Christ. Acts of
rebellion show our lack of love for our heavenly Father. It is also true in the natural --
if we love our earthly fathers, we will respect and obey them. We will even be grateful
when we are grown for the discipline earlier in our lives. A good father will discipline
his children because he loves them, and does not want any harm to come to them
John 14:15: "If ye love me, keep my commandments."
This is what Jesus said. We will want to keep His commandments if we love Him. Anything
less is rebellion.
Prayer for
the Day:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You, that You loved
me so much, that You sent Your Son to die for my sins. I do not understand a love
like that, but I am eternally grateful for it. I also appreciate Your hand of
correction in my life as I know without it, I would have gone astray and the enemy would
have destroyed me. Lord, help us all to be obedient to Your will. Give us a greater
desire to serve You and to serve others. Keep us from the evil one. Bless our
families and our loved and keep them in Your hand. I ask this in the name of the
Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
